Wow. That was some party in the Zocalo. I think we went through about 80 cans of the snow foam stuff.

Hope you all had a great time! What was happening in other parts of Mexico?

| It was a good party here in Cuernavaca too. It rained earlier in the evening but was dry for the grita. I was covered in the foam stuff and got a few bruises from being pushed around in the crowd, but that was the only damage. |

We had clear skies all weekend.
So I went to our zocalo and we watched the folk dancing, mariachis and the girls road some rides, but they were tired so we left before the grito. I was home in time to see Felipe's lack luster performance on TV. Great fireworks in DF this year though!
We also saw the school kids marching and drumming on Sunday, road a few more rides and ate some "antojitos"
But this whole things go me wondering, why, even here in Oaxaca, does a Noche Mexicana mean mariachis, tacos, y jarabe tapatio. Why not marrimba, mole, y flor de pia |

| I enjoyed El Grito in the zocalo of Oaxaca. I had a front row seat to see the procession of the police(?) followed by the government officials then the bands and the queen. It seemed pretty tame and the fireworks and music were really nice. What's the deal with the spray foam though? I thought it was nice how the kids were able to run wild with it, accidentally spraying innocent bystanders, but no one really seemed to care. |

Until you brandish a can in each hand, several more in your pockets, and a grin on your face amid 100,000 other people who are thinkin' like you, it won't be explained with mere words. |

| Are there other festivals before the end of the year where I might have an opportunity to get in on the fun? Or is spray foam an Independence Day thing? |

| I experienced spray foam in Oaxaca at New Year's two years ago. Have fun, just try not to get it in people's eyes. It stings (and for everyone else, cover your eyes!) |

Stings?!?!?!
I wear contacts but thankfully mine were not bothered last weekend. However, another friend I was with was continually taking them out.
For me, its not about the night of, the sting that can possible occur instantly, its about the WEEK + after!!!
I have NEVER had dry skin like I have now!!! Even my ear lobes were flaking like no pie crust should!
Now, a over a week later, Im finally (more or less) able to maintain skin on my face (...neck and upper arms!).
Regardless, it was worth it! |
