I've passed the first round with this scohol, then they asked for my diplomas, certs, and passport. I should have an interview this week. My question is, I can't find any info on this school. I assume they're a new school, becaue they said they didn't have their website ready.

It's in Madrid, anyone there heard of it? Or know anything about it?

...i think there is some kind of search on the site...what are you searching for??

also, there is another thread on this Spain forum somewhere about a guy here who runs a "flat-apt" agency....

Hello, didn't see the thread. We have 167 Madrid schools on our database, but we don't have this one on it. That said, these schools spring up and disappear again with alarming frequency here in Madrid. To put that in some sort of perspective, there are only 54 in Berlin (then again the Germans do speak much better English already!)

This Lecel Intl School isn't in the Spanish Yellow pages online version, and its postcode is actually in Girona, which is more Barcelona direction. Didn't find much with a Google search apart from the job-advert which does sound very good. Still, it might not be worth risking flying from Peru (where NatureGirl321 lives, I think?) for anything less than a British Council/International House contract.

Still, if you're really interested in coming to Spain, and you have working papers, 2000 euros a month is possible in a good month if you work reasonably hard (in Madrid that is, though it's a lot more expensive here than in the rest of Spain apart from Barcelona).

...i read the job Ad also, sounds pretty legit. but, why such a round # like 2000 Euros, and not 1850 or something?? also, it's only like 6 hours a day, so you could almost work privates at night...even more incredible.

maybe it is some type of Intl School, catering to expats / foreigners, this is why the salary is higher ?

again, thanks for all the great info on your site, Moore -- haven't been there for awhile, but it's always interesting --- especially for apartments

So you think it's too good to be true? Maybe they're moving or opening another school in Madrid?

Approach this one with caution. Like Moore we have a database of almost 200 Madrid schools and they aren't on our list either.

I did a quick check and the only thing I could find was their advert where they list their address as:

Lecel International school
C/ Vaquer}s, 19, (looks like the browser messed up the accents)
Madrid, 17004, Spain

I checked for streets starting with VAQUER in central Madrid and there's one called Calle Vaquerias in post code 28007. There are other areas with streets called Calle Vaquerias outside Madrid Capital, BUT the post code on the advert is wrong. As far as I know, ALL post codes in Madrid start with 28 NOT 17. Post code 17004 is for the city of Girona in Catalunya.

It could be that it's legitimate but do some serious homework on this one first.

Regards,

Jim Ross

Well, I sent them the info that they asked for on Saturday and haven't heard anything from them since. Hope they don't put their names on my certs Smile

They just sent me a written interview, so I guess I got accepted to the next stage. It's taken them about a week to answer my emails. I wrote to them two weeks ago, then they wrote to me asking for scans of all my docs, then they just sent me the written interview. They still need someone by October, so I just might end up in Spain soon.

....hmmm, still a little strange -- probably fairly normal for long Email replies, most Latinos, etc are out dancing, singing etc....i usually only answered Email 1 X a week in L.America. they're probably busy also.

but, not being able to call or talk to any current teachers is a red flag. anywhere in the world, you should be able to call a current teacher, in Korea, Poland, Italy, Argentina, etc

also, it's only 2 weeks away?? and they're still sending written interviews?? i thought the school year started in Spain 2 weeks ago??
