I'm trying to decide, and being under 3 tons of pressure, it's not helping tooo much.
I'm cringing writing this, you know !.....


Where can I go and make the most ...(ugghh!) money ?

Why isn't that a refreshing a novel question.

I've excluded Viet Nam-only one response and they want me to take a demo test when I get there....Now forget that I hate demos,but I don't mind a 40 minute taxi/bus/camel ride to take one,but Beijing and Saigon are more than a pricey taxi fare away, and no accommodation.

I know that's the lamest question on ANY of these forums, hence the cringing.I need to send back 300 usd or 2500-3000RMB to my wife for mortgage and food etc..Do I have to ? No, but I think it's my responsibility as a "good" person/husband. But I also want to save some money to TRY and move home for next year.2nd hand car for mobility, some cash in pocket, you know what I'm saying.

looks like korea is your best bet sir. they cover your air ticket, free flat, usually quite decent, good salary, free food for lunch at school daily, low living expenses relative to japan and other developed countries... only downside is most of the jobs available there are at hagwons, or private language schools and require 30 hours a week. the work is easy, can be a bit boring however. usually by friday evening i was exhausted, oh and alcohol there is not too expensive (more than here though) and korean women are quite nice.

i, in fact didnt enjoy my time in korea. but that was largely because it was my first time to asia and i had a hard time getting over the cultural differences in the workplace. i could easily go back there now and enjoy it.

i would like to add... that teaching in korea is much like china. its all an illusion. meaning.... the appearance of good teaching is important

So you are not too old for Epik and you would be a level one EPIK so you would get 2,698:18 USD a month. Big question could you live on $1,198 US a month with free accommodation and airfares etc?

The way I see it in Korea you are basically the same dancing monkey as here in China.......HOWEVER at least you are a well paid dancing monkey and can save some cash.

Have you considered Japan? Sure the initial set up costs can be high, the key is to find a school who are willing to cover these initial set up costs. After that you generally can save between $1000 to $1500 a month. But like Korea you need to put in a lot of hours, sometimes 35 classes a week.

EPIK is tops at 25 hours a week but the luck of the draw where they place you. You could be doing something like 16 to 18 with a bit of luck.

But honestly, who did you prefer, the Chinese students or the Korean students. I guess since this is a Chinese forum I can safely say this ... at my American college I had a lot of Asian friends, 100's. And the Korean were my least favourite.

But since it's about the money, have some stinky cabbage for me. Come drop in now and again

You could come to Shanghai. If you work hard and live frugally here, you can save. Plenty of opportunities for the qualified. I hope your wife isn't b*tching at you for being low on cash after sucking your savings away for the past few years to send to her parents etc.

From what I know of it it isn't that cheap and usually takes from 6 to 12 months to be in a position to start saving in you intending to stay for a number of years.

A couple questions:

1. What qualifications do you have?

2. How many hours do you want to work?

3. What grade level will you teach?

We all know that going to Japan or S. Korea can certainly get you a lot of money and how much you can save will depend on how much you "live". Hong Kong could be a place if you have qualifications. If you have an education degree and actual classroom experience, PM me about my school's situation and you can take that info from there.
