DMC looks like a poor choice. It's way out in the boonies. How to get from there to a hotel with the least traffic hassle - Garhoud area? Sheikh Zayed Road?
Rent a car or will there be shuttle buses / taxis - ? |

DMC is on the Al Ain road. If you want to avoid the Dubai traffic, the hotels in Festival City might be a good choice if they are open then. Otherwise, the Garhoud area. You'll probably need a car but they aren't expensive. |

When CTELT was held at DMC, I found the easiest thing to do was to stay somewhere near Bur Dubai, and then take the (Number 16?) bus from the Bur Dubai bus station.
That takes you out along the Al Ain road and there's a bus stop just opposite the new Zayed University campus.
Then you walk. It's about one kilometre, and quite pleasant early in the moring. |

Thanks, Neil - good tip. I was thinking that the location would mean I wouldn't go this year, but assuming the bus transport isn't too unpleasant, it sounds quite doable. |

I've booked the newly opened Holiday Inn in Internet City. It is $122 USD/night. My collegue and I have rented a car for $144/week!!! Now that's a bargain in any country. We know the distance between the DMC and our hotel but this rate was hard to beat. |

If you're sharing, that's a good plan, mytrunkshow. GREAT car rate, too. I do think some of the hotel apartments in bur dubai run a similar rate to what you've paid, and do provide the benefit of a kitchen-if one is hoping to save on meals out, this is another way to go.
What's the deadline for early registration for the conference? |
