| Yeah, it's that. It's this stupid thing that has to be typed saying, for example, 'Exalted members of the foreign police force, I respectfully request that you consider my petition to renew my residence permit for another year. I thank you in advance for the opportunity to wait in your lines for 2 hours to spend 15 seconds in your glorified presence while you give me a stamp.' |

I will optimistically expect the wait won't be as long for you as for us-- we ran into foreign student-time and resident permits for teachers-time. The 2 hour wait was for this office called 'Archives.' When we finally got admitted to Archives, there were 6 computers, 5 of them empty and lots of cops sitting around. More accurately, some female cops were working at other desks but not at the computers, and several male cops warming their butts and messing around doing nothing.
Apparently we got stuck in line behind the guy from Ko with over 100 teacher passports waiting to be Archived. Doing the Archiving was a young woman at the 6th computer, typing the passport data into a form with one finger. Then she would hand the paper to one of the cops doing nothing who, when he could be bothered to interrupt his conversation, would stamp the paper, then hand it back to the woman on the computer who would stamp it again. So it took a really long time.
But probably a lot of the beginning of the school year stuff is done by now... |
