Well according to my sources-Tuesday is supposed to be a big day for NOVA. Apparently all the bigwigs are getting together to decide exactly what is going to happen. It seems that most people on this forum have completely written NOVA off. I'm not so sure. Things aren't looking good that's for certain but I'm not sure that it's only a matter of days as most people on this forum are suggesting.
What do I think will happen? There will be a serious reduction in the number of schools, which will anger a lot of students and cause even more to cancel their contract. Also fewer students will want to invest thousands of yen into what appears to be a sinking ship. It's sort of a negative feedback mechanism but I don't think it's going to happen all at once. I've got a feeling that NOVA will continue to limp along for quite a while longer yet. Or I could be completely wrong and find out that NOVA self-imploded on Tuesday.
What's your prediction? I think it would be nice to get everybody on record here in one single thread-so please vote and say what you think in the thread. Oh and try not to sound too gleeful when predicting NOVA's imminent demise. |

It's difficult to tell, but if there is an announcement, at the very least it'll be one concerning a serious reduction in operations. Maybe it'll be about how many schools are to be closed. I don't think it'll be a going-out-of-business announcement, though.
No matter what it is, good luck to all the teachers and students involved. |

Tomorrow Nova can either call it a day, or else delay calling it a day for at most a few months. The events of the last week or so have sealed Nova's fate in my opinion. |

Well I chose that there'll be a comeback-I suppose that may make me look like an idiot but I suppose we'll have to wait and see. Anybody care to make it interesting?
*edit* oh and by a comeback I don't really mean a comeback-NOVA's former days of glory are long gone, never to return. But it's possible that they may shrink back into just being an ordinary english conversation school rather than the juggernaut that they used to be. |

This list doesn't even include all the crap threads that the MODS deleted which were started by known troll tigerwood....
Dude! ~~~ Ask yourself. Was this thread REALLY necessary! I'm bloody sick to death of getting onto Dave's and seeing nothing but freakin' NOVA threads from top to bottom!
Enough, people! Or just ask Dave to make you a special NOVA forum! |

Oh well, Jim, once Nova finally sinks the threads will die down and there will then never be another thread on Nova, ever again! It's crunch time at the moment so we just have to ride out the rash of Nova threads. It won't be long now... |

A friend of mine recently hired on with Nova, like myself (I knew the risks), received notice of eviction today. He lives in Tokyo. I am unsure at this point whether or not he is still employed. |

Thanks Jim-I'm not worried about you too much because you obviously have too much time on your hands-you could have spent all that time copying and pasting looking for useful threads for yourself. We all know you have a nice cushy job and you aren't concerned with NOVA closing. If you don't want to look at a NOVA thread then I would suggest not clicking on it. |

I think the point is it would be easier for those that do want to find out about NOVA to be able to find the information all on one thread. Just a friendly suggestion. |

I'm not sure why some of the old timers out there, surveying the NOVA mess from the comfort of their secure jobs, are questioning the need of these threads. For 5000 plus people, it's their sole source of income, their reason for being halfway around the world, their... bread and butter. When you're this uncertain about where you'll be next month (or even next week for that matter) there's safety in the words of others who are going through it or who may just offer a few words of comfort.
A few redundant threads... who cares? If us folks on the other side of the fence can be of help (as little as it is this being an online forum and all) why don't we just grin and bear the flood of NOVA postings for awhile. Community spirit and all...
Anyhow, to all those in limbo, I hope it all works out one way or another.

You might want to get actual confirmation from someone but I have read once or twice that actually evicting a person in Japan is quite difficult. Easy to give the notice of eviction but quite another story to actually carry it out. |

Multiple threads are presently being permitted regarding this serious matter due to the potential ramifications for teachers directly affected by present and future developments. |

What is your take on NOVA deducting rent from teacher salaries but not actually paying the rent on apartments? If a company deducted a portion of my salary for say pension or healthcare and then the money never actually went there.... Is this a new legal ramification for NOVA? |
