The 'underclass' in the UK is very visible and they are the only people breeding at a ferocious rate. The middle classes cannot afford to stop work to have children until they are at least in their thirties.

I also worked for a year in British secondary education and it was a real wake-up call. There are some very unpleasant, angry young people around that is for sure. The current generation of parents has been labelled the worst parents ever, they are too busy pursuing their own lives and lurching from crisis to crisis to control their children.

Nevertheless, there are still many kind, civilised British people (including secondary age children) and when I was home early this summer I was happy to be there.

For the moment Turkish family life appears more stable and school children better disciplined but talking to secondary teachers here, the same problems are making an appearance - particularly narcotics abuse.

Maybe it depends where in Britain you are based but I still want to return to the UK.

In a recent article in the Mail (where else ) a journalist was able to penetrate a gang in Manchester that was run by a 15 year by the name of Sean who makes about 2000 a week dealing drugs . Although extremely street wise he was not an achiever at school and left at 13 and has carried out a huge number of crimes ever since . He always carries a knife and has all too easy access to firearms including semi automatics and AK 47's . So Manchester is not an area to rush back to ,not that I can recall it ever was in the first place .
