Finish my DELTA extended assignment, and pass the exam in December
Finish my BA
Become a certified teacher trainer
Then do an MA
Then a PHD, (obviously)
Become fluent in Spanish
Work extensively in South America
Live on the top of a mountain, have a very long beard, and answer questions for people that climb up it to seek my wisdom.
Possibly develop magical powers so I can fire lightning from my fingers, or, maybe, a staff with a crystal ball on the end.
Not so sure about the "get married and have a family" business, as I have not yet suffered from the hormonal imbalance necessary to develop a desire for such insanity... |

Yes it does seem that many in this field are not heading for the typical, traditional life. |

I had a crystal ball staff, but I dropped it and the crystal broke, and all my wisdom escaped in a gas-like cloud (so I became an EFL teacher).
My goals are a mix of short and long term. Short term finish my contract, take a Japanese exam, do some good teaching. Long term see a few more countries and write a successful novel, then settle down I suppose with a spouse and kids, which is where everyone ends up... |

Of course! Didn't you know, I'm the only EFL teacher who can write a world-changing novel that will catapult me into unwanted but eventually accepted stardom, when the fools of the world finally realise my talent?
There's a far side cartoon showing a clown buying a gun. He says "Laugh at me, will they?!" |

Dear nomadder,
"Oh right I forgot the book-hmm?-is it still a goal?"
Yikes - if you have to ask, if may not be. Keep the dream alive!!!

Goals for me:
Buy house.
Have kids.
Open restaurant.
Live in French speaking place for a year. (This is the one second language I felt comfortable in at one time, but now it is slipping away from me- too much studying Japanese!)
Run for public office.
Change world for better.
That concludes the big picture stuff, now for the little goals.
Lose the last 15 pounds.
Remember to clean out fridge on a weekly basis.
finish knitting project.
Clean out closets.
Organize EFL materials into file folders. |

I want to retire to a place where I can sit on my balcony and watch the moon come up over the ocean. Anywhere in the world will do.
How realistic is it to consider buying overseas - i.e. not Australia? If it is realistic, where would this be feasible for not huge amounts of money???? |

for the next 3-4 years:
--pay off credit card bill and then cut up that evil piece of plastic
--pay off student loans
--lose 10 pounds and try to get huge (like Ahnold, not Roseanne Arnold)
--complete MA in TESOL
--clean out my bedroom in my parents' house and wittle my possessions down to a two suitcase and one carry-on existence
--return to China and make my Mandarin hot, getting my hands stuck in a few pots: teaching, writing, consulting
my goals most certainly DO NOT include any thing to do whatsoever with marriage and having children. I deal with children as a teacher, I don't want to go to a house with them at the end of the day. |

Nice idea, but only really practical after retirement |

Now my goal is to pay my student loan off.

I've got a BA(hons) and an MA in subjects TOTALLY unconnected to teaching or English. Which makes me a perfect candidate...
Goals? Errr, early retirement? I am kinda semi-retired, but that's because I'm very laz |

I'm married and have a seven-year-old-daughter. Goals? Keep a roof over our heads, food in our bellies, and clothes on our backs. Life has become real simple. At this point I can intellectualize the differance between goals and fantasies, but all the same... |

1. Earn beeploads of money so I can
2. Open my own school so I can do it MY WAY, so I can then,
3. Retire, sell franchises and
4. Write a book (Hopefully as good as Tolkiens classic trilogy, but small hope there). |

Like that old guy in Holy Grail (Tim) who takes the crew to the evil rabbit? That would be cool. |
