Are there any opportunities for Americans to teach English in french speaking Quebec?

Of course! There are nowhere near enough English speaking people in Canada, let alone English Canadians who also know French, to teach English to the Quebecois!

That's why French still exists in Canada, eh! There just aren't enough English speakers to teach it to them.

I'm absolutely 100% sure that you will have no problems whatsoever convincing the goverment of Canada that you would be doing a job that not a single Canadian citizen or landed immigrant could do.

BTW, you don't need to say French speaking Quebec. That would be like saying English speaking Kentucky or something. (like "I'm going on a trip! First I'll go to English speaking Kentucky, then English speaking Florida, then English speaking California. Next I'll take a flight over to German speaking Germany and visit Italian speaking Italy, Spanish speaking Spain and Portuguese speaking Portugal before finishing up with French speaking France and English speaking England before I return home to French speaking Quebec!")

Do you have landed Immigrant status in Canada? If not, forget working there.

I have lived on and off in Montreal, Canada, since 1998 (I came as a Landed Immigrant, from France, in 1998) and I can tell you that English speakers are not very popular in Quebec, in general. I say 'in general' so as not to ruffle the feathers of the few francophones who are anglophiles, and believe me - there are not many.

Do you speak French? If not, it would be very difficult, if not impossible to find a job in French speaking Quebec.

I will be a recent college grad with a bachelor of arts and tesl certificate. I will have a couple years of experience volunteering with esl students from elementary school aged to adult learners.

I will have a valid work permit in Canada post-graduation as I did my degree here.

Is finding english teaching work in Montreal a possibility for me? Is competition for work too stiff even for the most entry-level/low pay jobs?

eta. I have some french speaking abilities, of which I am working to improve.
