I am going to be in CHENGDU during the National Holiday next week. I would like to combine this vacation with some "job interviews" at universities/colleges located IN Chengdu City. I know everyone is on holiday, but it has been my experience that not everyone is travelling. Some FAO's might welcome the opportunity to interview a potential teacher face-to-face (a pipedream perhaps?).

I am an experienced Canadian ESL teacher, and have been teaching Oral and Business English in Eastern China for the past 3 years (recommendations available).

Any contact information, along with details about your 'good' university experiences, would be greatly appreciated!

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but next week is National week holidays which means all the staff at the colleges and universities you are planning on going to are going to be on holidays as well.

Of course I understand what you're saying about universities closing over the holiday (I work in one). But, since I have already secured one meeting with a Chengdu university, I wondered if it was possible to arrange additional informal meetings/interviews during my time in Chengdu.

Perhaps some of you ESL teachers living in Chengdu (those who enjoy your university teaching experience) might have the inside track on whether your FAO would like to meet a qualified teacher informally during the holiday. Most universities have to 'take a chance' and hire their new teachers over the internet - meeting face-to-face might minimize that.

If you can't help me, no worries - just thought I'd ask.

Saw your post and am in Chengdu teaching at a private school. They're looking to interview so if you want to PM me and set something up just let me know (they are a private school so they are open during most of next week).
