Just wondering if anyone else has travelled to North Cyprus and back to renew their 90-day Turkish tourist visa. Any problems with this? Just want to make sure this will work for renewing my visa.

Thanks for your help!

I know of people who've done it, no problem.

And Cyprus is a great place to visit, IMHO...

Yes, I have done it and it works. N Cyprus (aka Turkish Republic of N Cyprus) is only recognized by Turkey as a country.

However, just to warn you that if you fly in, you need to get a cab to wherever you are going. To Girne it is 60 YTL..........quite pricey, for example. No bus service!

A bit of a rip-off. Better bet to stay in Nicosia bec there is bus service I think. Need to do a bit of planning.

Prices are higher than Turkey mainland for most things bec the tourist, primarily the British tourist is making headways on the island.

If you have time, you can take a ferry from the mainland (from Antalya, for example). Be careful of high and low season though bec there is limited ferry service in low season.

i have also done the visa run before. Took a ferry from tasucu near mersin to girne. Did it 2 times with zero problems. Even possible to do it in one day. Just remember to bring some ytl for the police. Whiskey and any alcohol are also really cheap in Cyprus, so take some extra money Smile

enjoy the trip

Plenty of cheap bacon there as well cos of the brits who live there in shitloads .
Car hire is not a bad idea if you intend to stay there for longer than a weekend .

I did the tasacun trip a couple of years back and it was hell on earth - just thousands and thousands of people getting off a boat with all their earthly belongings while everyone waited in the iskele, I think it's a really decent option if you don't do it during the bayram.
