1500 USD (4200 zloty) a month might be tough to come by in Poland.
Thee are teachers who make this much (and more) here, but most of them have been teaching in Poland for some time.
Luckily, you can live comfortably here on under 1000 USD a month.
You say in your stats you are willing to work without a visa, but with no visa you will be taxed more and earn less money.
What do your stats have to do with Profi-Lingua? |

Absolutely nothing, I just thought you'd like to know a bit about me.... Upon further review, they are quite useless
Prof-lingua wants me to start next month and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the school/teachers it employs.
Also if u know anything about chorzow that would be a great help as well. |

If you can't make 4017 zloty a month, it's time to get a new job. 40 zloty per 60 minute hour is very easy to get.

Yes you can. But why should you? School owners charge plenty, they can afford to pay.

Do explain how not having a visa has any effect on the percentage tax one would pay. |

4017 zloty a month for a teacher new to Poland?? I doubt it. If it's so easy Harry, why don't you hook him up with a job?
But with the dollar falling in value like it is, who knows? $1,500 may not be that many zlotys in a few months.
As for a visa, a DOS at a school I interviewed at recently said that they could employ native speakers without proper working papers, but paid them less money.

Alternatively he could just contact schools like Resource, Lang, Warsaw Study Centre, Worldwide, L2, Ability, Empik, etc himself. All of those schools pay newly-qualified teachers in the region of 45zl for 45 minutes (which works out at about 48.6zl per 60 minutes after tax). Work 24 hours a week and that'll be 1166zl per week. Lets's assume that you only work 42 weeks a year because of holidays and you'll earn 48,972zl per year. That's 4,081zl per month.
You might want to work for a school which pays that same as it did a decade ago while charging far higher prices than it did then but that's your choice. There are far better deals for the people who look for them. |

....the advantage you have FUZZX is that you're Canadian. don't Canadians have an easier time getting EU papers vs. the US??
like Harry said, 1100zl / wk or $416US / wk or ~ $1600 / mo US - not bad...for 24 hr weeks
here in the US, to make $400US at Dunkin Donuts you'd have to work 75 hours |

Just read this....http://www.eslbase.com/forum/viewtopic/t-465
beware Profi-Lingua school in Poland. Their job advertisements look very attractive and professional but the school is poisonous.
I have too many issues to mention, but some of the worst include:
- docking your pay for a multitude of 'offences' such as not wiping the white board.
- consistent late payment.
- constant harassment and bullying about student numbers. Even if those students have left the country, you are penalized for their failure to re-enrol.
- zero teacher resources.
I have worked for good schools in Poland so don't be put off the country, just stay away from this one. |

Profi-lingua also pays you in a strange way. You get more money if more students show up to your lessons, less if fewer attend.
But come on, should you get paid less money because its a sunny day and half of your teenage Upper-Intermediate class decides to go to the beach?
By all means, check out those schools Harry has mentioned. I'm curious to see what they offer... |

Well, it goes like this. You start mid October ,so get half a month's pay in November.2 weeks off at Christmas, so half a month's pay for that month." weeks off at Easter so half a month's pay for that month too. I had 28 groups and taught 36 hours a week.I never mad more than 6,000 after tax, not even in my best month. Over the year with that teaching load you will average less than 4,000 a month minus your rent, (500-1000zl).....that's about 1,200 US.
Go for the booze and the girls....worry about the money later. |
