Hi, I was wondering if anyone has advise on having business cards. I already know several places that can do it, I just want to find out format information, what's the best layout, most important information.

thanks!

A name card is a good idea for meeting people and/ networking here.

Format of the card is not overly important and information need not be extensive. Essentially your name and a mobile phone number are all that are really required. Indeed, I've seen many with little more than this on them. You may include your occupation or business, eg. English teacher, if you wish.

Yes, business cards are very handy. No harm done handing them out to people. In some formal situations it's expected that you have a card. Not having one can be a faux pas.

an absolute MUST imho, not giving a card in return when one is presented to you is a complete no no and a very quick way to lose the all important "face". Even a really cheap practically see through card with spelling mistakes is better than no card at all.

I agree with guys. After a while, people here won't take you seriously without one. Constantly taking others cards and never having one to give in return. Not cool.

I guess you need to get them made in Taiwan, once you get over there and get a mobile number (I'm not arriving 'till Febuary).

Is it easy to find print shops (like a Staples or Kinko's equivalent) in Taipei?

Places making/selling business cards are easy to find, although you will have to go and buy in bulk. 200 business cards at a time I used to be given upon making an order. If you don't think you need that many then simply make your own once you get to Taiwan. All you need is access to a computer and a printer, and of course some better quality paper which are easy available in stationary stores.
