| Once while teaching a student the past perfect progressive, I had the student do some practice exercises with fill-ins. One of the answers was "I finally found my pen! I had been coming everywhere for it." |

For Spanish students it was usually the word put, with puta being Spanish for s-lut / b-itch. They always had difficulties with words ending in 'B' which they would pronounce as 'F' so pub sounded disconcertingly similar to the British English word poof meaning gay. 'I was in the poof last night' ... okay.
Best one was today. A gap fill exercise for homework a student read out their answer as
"A job where you work with your hands is called a HAND job."
Johnny: "er that's one type of such 'job' but the correct word is..." |
