Contrary to what Clop posts, 007's language has shown definite improvement over the months. Some of it must be attributed to his tussles with others. Well done, Sir!

It's pretty low to lay into a guy cuz of his poor spelling, sentence structure, wife., native-speaker ability. Get out more, Cleo. And another thing : try a non-abaya day on the streets of Riyadh and let us all know how things pan out. I could do with a giggle and chuckle.

----"It's pretty low to lay into a guy cuz of his poor spelling, sentence structure, wife., native-speaker ability."-----

Is it too much to expect somebody to write intelligibly on a forum for English teachers, or to make sense if you succeed in deciphering what he writes.

--"only reason you have not been (re)banned"----

Nice to see that Cleo has adapted to the native culture, even if it involves embracing censorship.

I've read probably 20 different studies on this through the years, but I have better things to do than try to find them for you. Since it won't affect your prejudices anyway. If you do a search, you can find plenty of information supporting all sides, but you do not seem to have the ability to judge the validity of your sources outside your own field or culture.

Ironic that Abba should look for 'scientific' sources, being as he favours the Daily Mail, a "news"paper whose biggest fear - as has been accurately observed - is that somewhere, some woman might be having fun. No doubt Abba labours under similar fears.

Really? And here was me thinking you were utterly fulfilled in the (unnamed) wonderland in which you now reside. Evidently not, as you need to seek your kicks from an anonymous woman on a Saudi teachers' board.

Not so much low as redundant, being as Abba's stupidity betrays him clearly enough without our help. It's interesting that only one person here is defending him.... you!

Also nice to see that Steve has reverted to his old habit of looking around for ways to try to make fun of the female posters, even if the supposed point of what he is trying to say remains obscure.

What's good for the goose... any 'scientific study' or reference to back up the above?

I think Abbas should be a script writer for the Simpsons. A very, very clever chap.

Cool

You have told us your field is mathematics. Of course, you could have lied.

And your choice of sources quoted here on any number of topics have repeatedly been second rate.... tabloid newspapers and Memri come to mind...

I am reading this from China. I worked for a year in KSA when I was 23 as a quick means to pay off debts and save for some tropical fun.

I must say that this forum, more so than any of the other forums on Dave's, is packed with extremely haughty and pedantic f**kwits. I guess for most of you living in KSA is akin to suffering from chronic sexual frustration.

This particular thread has become ridiculous.

Amen.

Dont worry Henry, I am not an English teacher. I am a technical person not a grammatical person.
BTW, did you enjoy reading that article?

For little Cleo:
It seems some English teachers in this forum are very angry on a Maths teacher, especially little Cleo, who thinks she is the God father of the English language and the Judge of the western Media!

Of course, I must say that Cleo have failed the 'nervousness' test many times.

Yes, but it is my secondary field. Mathematics is a like a hobby for me.

Yes, some of my sources are from newspapers and tabloid, but you did not provide me with references which contradict mine?

Here's the reason that women have higher rates of reported and diagnosed depression:

Men are less likely to admit to depression, and doctors are less likely to suspect it.

Good article.

Of course men are less likely to admit to depression than women, because, I think, men feel more responsible and have some kind of dignity (depends on culture and belief) where they do not like to show themselves to be weak in front of their family (especially the wife and children), and this is a natural human behaviour in men. And my point is very clearly supported in the above article.

[Even if a man realizes that he is depressed, he may be less willing than a woman to seek help.]

The question is why man is less willing than woman to seek help?
I think the reason behind it is as I have explained above.

This is simply your opinion. In your culture, the reasons are not men's responsibility and dignity but instead men's SHAME and INSECURITY.

I have dozens of studies to prove it.

Anyone who feels the need to refer to himself as "King Cobra" surely understands insecurity. Laughing
