Aw, don't we play nice? I said something good about your site ... once, maybe even twice
Perhaps people are just trying to prepari them for the China Syndrome
Seriously, a lot less flaming then in the old days (five years ago), but a lot of great posters gone, Capergirl, Johnslat
Capergirl Songgirl Naturegirl
I kind of miss the old format, which wasn't China specific. Now I don't go to the other places, miss out on people like Glenski, and Kent, and yes, even Jones' disgusting habit of knowing more about grammar then 99.9% of the people on this board
Am I rambling? Did I have some point to make?
Oh yeah, you can get mac and cheese in Henan now. We are civilized. Big empty buildings and over priced mac & Cheese that will blow a hole in you 15 yuan a day food budget |

Jeez, I don't know.. maybe some of the newbies get scared off from posting.
This is the first question I asked and my very first answer was a link to this thread. I did all sorts of searches and read all the stuff and was asking if anyone had additional information...
Sorry if I wasted anyones time.
However, most of this site is quite nice. |

| Nope, I was just gently reminding you that, after you've made your decision and have worked at your job for a few weeks or so, don't forget us here at Dave's and let us know how all our kind assistance panned out. Of course, I hardly know about any schools in China as I've only ever worked for two! |

Would not forget to keep in touch. Just starting to realize that the China board is a little tougher than, say, the Poland one.
Already have picked up on good stuff to avoid. |

Actually things have been a bit quiet for the last couple of months, but the return of a certain know-it-all bodes fair for fireworks. Stay tuned! |

The internet factor is another thing. How many have a 24/7 reliable internet connection?
The first 6 months I was in China I had to go to those loud, snoke filled rooms called Internet Cafe's and only had enough time to check E-mails and tell others I was still alive.
I have a feeling most bail out of China after their first year is up, for various reasons.
My first university gave me an awesome computer to use after 6 months that had Windows 98, a Mao screen-saver , with 100 viruses on it.
After I bought a new computer and paid to have a broadband connection installed, I was at a second university 1 year later.
This was a "developed" city too. |
