Lets say someone makes 250kc per 40 minute lesson. How much would could they expect to be taxen off because of taxes/insurance? What would the gross pay (or is it net pay) be?

Working privately, i.e. with a Z-list, self-employed or working as an employee? This year, or next year(the laws are apparently changing, though it doesn't make much difference, I understand.) It's difficult to say how much medical and social you pay per hour as that is calculated by how much money you make a month, I believe.

On a Z-list I pay 1400(the minimum)/month for social.
My medical insurance, which is not full BTW but should be more than adequate, was about seven thousand some-odd for about nine months coverage(will have to renew it in July).
That's the MINIMUM youre going ot pay, or at least something in that area.

Working on your own, next year(2008), grossing 200, assuming you don't have more than 35 percent write offs, you will be able to automatically write off 35percent.
From that total(at two hundred, I guess it comes to seventy crowns.) of 130 multiply by 15 percent and that's what you'll pay in taxes. You will not be able to write off either the social or the medical next year(this year you can do this.)

It's a bit more complicated actually. You will be able, I believe to write off an additional 21 000 kc(or so) off your yearly salary before the fifteen percent thing...So actually a little less...

It's hard to tell you exactly how much you'll pay from just your hourly wage, but I hope that helped osme.

I am unclear how much you will net at 200/hour as an employee. I think you could probably guess on clearing 140-160 but I have no idea for sure, it's totally a guess.

PS: I don't recommend getting a Z-list unless you are planning to stay here for good. For non-EU'ers it's really expensive and there is a lot of red tape.

Hmmm sounds rather confusing. Surprised

I think I might make about 26,000kc a month before taxes. After all the taxes would I have about 17,000-19,000kc a month? I am just trying to figure out my potential budget.

Your calculations seem about right. Can't you ask your school to do the math for you?

For people with Z-lists...my calculations for 2008 were slightly off(based on bad information.) You will be actually able to write off fifty percent of your "supergross"(i.e. including social and medical) and then there will be a fifteen percent flat tax. So, if you were making 26 000/ gross with a Z-list, you would have to pay 15 percent of 156 000 or 23 400 for the year(assuming you make 26 000 for 12 months). There is also a further write off for people (plus dependants) but I'm not exaclty sure how much that will be.
