Just checked - when the Diwan came around, each person renting accommodation got a separate claim number and it was this number that the compensation was paid under. My friend and another tenant had a number as did the landlord.

As far as cars were concerned, people were asked to state who the car was registered to. Any compensation was paid out to the registered owner. My friend's landlord's son's car was registered to the landlord (cheaper insurance) and the son had to claim through his father.

I think your friend should get up to the Wali's office as soon as possible and I hope he gets some compensation.
