Anyone know the best way to get the most bang for your Taiwanese buck? I'll be going on a visa run this Sunday and I am exchanging Taiwanese dollars for US$.
When I first arrived, I exchanged US$ for Taiwanese dollars almost anywhere: The department store, small money exchange places, where ever. Even the airport.
At the time. about five weeks ago, I got NT$ 3,100 for US$100 almost every time.
So should I go to a bank here in Taiwan and change to US$ before I leave for the Philippines?
Any advice appreciated! |

If you can pay the bill before the interest is incurred a credit card is you best option.
Unfortunately many non Chinese on Taiwan cannot get a credit card here and as our jobs and income is not recognized most anywhere on the planet we have trouble getting credit from our own countries.
The money exchange at the CKS airport is your next best option. For some reason they do not take a percentage of the exchange they just charge a small service fee around 100Nt., no matter how large the transaction. |
