I have been told that Oxford Seminars is not that prestigious. I live in Raleigh, NC so I need to take something that comes to my city. Are the online certificates prestigious? Also CELTA is only offered in like 10 cities in the U.S. and I can't really afford to pay to fly over just to take a course. What is the best certification I should get? |

In Korea they care more about you having a Degree. In Spain the CELTA will be considered more important. |

Most newbie teachers in Europe are certified from an on-site course including supervised teaching practice on real students. If you are really heading to Spain, I highly recommend taking a course in Spain. |

For Korea: as jammish says, they want to see your university degree. Any. It's a requirement for the visa. Having a CELTA in addition to the degree might help get a better job, and it would certainly help you be a better teacher. But Korea doesn't much care about certificates. They care more what you look like.
No degree? You're paying your own plane ticket, finding your own place to live, working illegally and generally living in the shadows of society. People do it and make money, but people also get caught/turned in, fined heavily and deported.
For Spain, it seems the CELTA is a big deal but being an EU national is even bigger.
