Anyone who woke up and read this in their morning newspaper would have choked and looked at their calender to see if it is April 1st. But no, this is a sick truth of what is happening over here and the lack of respect shown towards victims of terrorism

I read that this morning as well on the same site as you, and I did leave a comment in the your say section !
I mentioned it to other teachers at school today, and nobody else had heard about it - I havent seen it in the local media yet. |

I'd like to make an outrageous suggestion: maybe we should give the intelligence chief's idea a go.
Seriously. It goes against the grain a bit, but all the more muscular ways of dealing with terrorism have failed miserably at tackling the threat of 'Islamic' extremists. |

This is a typical example of a country like Indonesia adopting western theories and practices but applying them in a totally erroneous and naive way. Does Brigadier General Surya Dharma think that congratulating these murderers will spur their conscience into repenting?
In the case of a poor, underpriviledged, brainwashed youth who didn't know any better, it might be fitting, but these men were and still are militant Muslims whose only motive at the time was clear and deliberate 'Jihad.' Now they have jobs and financial rewards and parties!? What the Indonesian government is doing is making them into 'double agents', giving them access to funds, inside information and useful connections within goverment and police.
Brigadier General Surya Dharma says that they, too, are Muslims.
Murder is 'haram' and they murdered many people in Bali. Not with a knife, face-to-face, or even with a gun, but using bombs strapped on other people! They should not even be considered Muslim, let alone be considered 'brothers.' They are cowards and now, having been caught, they have turned tail and become rats.
Salam

Gentlemen, I know how we all feel, it's really a "You scratch scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours" between this nation(muslims) and the rest of the world.
I do not agree on this gathering of "suspects & murderers" of this Bali issue, but also let us put our minds on what is also going on in Israel, Palestine, Iraq, Myanmar, Bosnia, Ireland, Somalia and so many others.... to be honest, apart from Islam, there are many other religions involved in brutality and "aftermath" kebab parties.
Peace. |

Century, yes there are problems all over the world. Nobody could disagree. My problem is the blatant disregard for the lives of the terrorist victims on the eve of the 5th anniversary of the attacks. All over the world there are terrorists. Does anyone truly believe that the governments of Ireland, Iraq or wherever would entertain Al Qaeda, IRA etc in this manner. It is bad taste and a lack of concern for a very serious problem. And let's not forget the manner in which they acted towards the Australians with regard to the Papuan asylum seekers and the recent furore over Sutiyoso. Australia acted within the law in both cases and the governments reaction was to make sweeping calls to Australian citizens. No, this is a country lacking respect and good manners towards its neighbours. And after they have held their hand out for foreign aid numerous times. |

Err, what's the link between Al Qaeda or the IRA and Ireland or Iraq? You are George Bush, and I claim my five pounds. |
