Hello people:
Upon arriving in Taiwan are there accessible and affordable places for foreign visitors to stay short to long term? My goal would be to get a place quickly rather than doing a lot of hunting and haggling around. I admit to not knowing anything about the city, or the country for that matter. But I figure there would be some kind of housing situation there for foreigners that can be had on the cheap (relatively). Please help this Taiwan newbie. Thanks to all. |

| Thank you, Surrealia. I wonder how long it would take to find a job in middle or large-sized city in Taiwan? |

Nice post surrealia, very useful.
On getting a job, it all depends on time of year. Before the big breaks at chinese new year and the school holidays around July are good times normally, as people leave jobs/the country around these times.
But walking around, speaking to others, finding the address/location of schools is the big step. Then of course the interview which normally has you stand in for another teacher.
Basically there is no answer its luck/timing/ etc If the school needs someone at the tiome you walk through the door. Or you pass their test/demonstartion etc |
