I live in a town that has COSTCO! (I go every other week and strap it all to my bike with bungee cords.) My husband and I can understand the cheese frenzy that would cause one to order it 10kgs at a time! |

COSTCO. I'm jealous, but now I just ordered from them. I'd be in Costco weekly just for the cereal. |

...My class in Paraguay were amazed when I showed them Blu-Tak... I ended up giving away a few lumps that are probably gathering dust somewhere..... |

Anybody looking for mayonnaise in China should keep their eyes peeled for the Kewpie brand, which I think comes from either Indonesia or Malaysia. It does have a picture of a kewpie doll on the front, and comes in this weird squeezy-tube. If you have Renrenle stores or Carrefour stores, have a look for mayonnaise there too.
Renrenle and Park'n'Shops are also good places to look for tampons, which are really rare here. Some stores do carry OB's, and a new thing I discovered when I bought my latest package is that now they include little "finger cot" things in the package. |

Blue Tac is wonderful sticky blue stuff that you affix to the back of a poster or picture and to the wall. Works really well with photos and paper objects, but nothing bigger.
Despite Hong Kong being a SAR of CHina...I can find pretty much everything here that I couldn't find in Japan. That said, I found much better cheese in Japan than here...at Yamaya in the OCAT building in Osaka, they sell American brand cheese (marble, swiss, monterey jack, extra sharp) 3 blocks (300g) for 1000Yen. |

OBs aren't terribly useful for teaching, but it's still nice to know they're out there! I'm not actually sure what the O & B stand for, though.

OB stands for obstetrician/gynecologist (this brand of tampon was apparently designed by a female OB/GYN but the whole acronym would probably make people think of the doctor's office too much) |

I live in a small City and you cannot buy deodorant here. I told some friends that and now I have heaps of the stuff. I have not tried to buy a can opener but it sure can be frustrating looking for things. The other day I bought what looked like sugar but MSG looks like sugar also and there was nobody around to ask. I got lucky that time.
As you do not buy eggs by the dozen here - they weigh them - I teld up my hands and asked for 10 eggs and ended up with 10 yuan of eggs - about 30!! It is those things that I find really amusing.
The worst thing for me is the lack of anything English to read. I really miss my crossword puzzles and magazines that I used to get weekly in Australia. There is a good site for a sort of crossword puzzle nd that is:
