We hear so much about what we supposedly like via TV, movies, magazines and newspapers but I wonder how often it matches up to the reality.
For me I prefer skinny over the muscular football type any day. Brown hair or darker though blonde guys aren't completely out of the running. I like a sense of humor, intelligence and a desire for travel.
Know it alls need not apply as well as control freaks or the insecure type.
Money isn't that important as long as he has enough to get by.
Obviously loyal, trustworthy and dependable are good things.
Average looks or good looking (only if he doesn't care that he's good looking).
Character and wisdom score big. Open-minded too.
I've read so many articles where guys think we want all these things that I don't. I wonder what others are looking for. |

I really don't want a guy at all. My wife would probably kill me for wanting another girl. Come to think of it, I'd be dead for wanting a guy too.
If hypothetically I was back on the market, I'd be looking for a Meg Ryan character type, although a bit younger. Her characters are always smart, funny, slightly irrational, pretty and forgiving. |

What am I looking for? Why, perfection, of course. An intellectual Adonis with a slightly twisted (yet never malicious) sense of humor, an awareness of self & surroundings, razor-sharp wit, social consciousness (without being holier-than-thou about it), lwho is oving and devoted without being smothering, ambitious enough to not settle for an office job (but again, the ambition would have to come sans malice), healthy--takes care of himself with good diet & sports (without being too much of a jock), etc., etc.
I suppose the Adonis bit really isn't all that necessary--as long as the guy is moderately attractive, what is inside is of course more important. But what the hell, drop-dead gorgeousness is always a plus.

I go for that. But I wonder, is the REAL Meg Ryan actual like that? How many women are?

| Not even guest of Japan can see his desired avatar. However, I've grown accustomed to the red x inside the white square. Maybe someday I'll make the effort again to find a viable picture. |

Personal ads on Dave's? That would be cool...
Outgoing communicative student-centered type seeking tutor for some PPP, and maybe more
Looking for a grammarian to be whispered to with a passive voice, while we translate conditionals.

Hmm.
Mrs Wolf, if she's out there will NOT be:
- a giggly airhead
- afraid of me when we first meet (there's no greater turn off then getting near someone and hearing "he's scary")
- ready to spout of doctorine that she's been fed and has never thought out.
- lacking in ambition
- a smoker
- not having any interests, etc in common with me. I'm not marrying a shoping/travelling/going out robot.
- using me as an emotional crutch
- using me as a means of economic support (get a job!) or as a passport (get in line!) I'm a human being, not a finance spreadsheet.
Mrs Wolf will be:
- Someone I love and trust
- Someone I understand and can communicate with
- Someone I can live with
- Someone who can in turn put up with me.
- Fun and wise.
- Not afraid to be herself. Especially around me.
I think that's a good start. Hot Asian women whose only interest is a token "foreign" boyfriend, need not apply.

Good cook
Let's me do most of the driving
Athletic
Loves to travel and live anywhere exotic
Loving

I agree with everything Capergirl said.
If the guy for me is Canadian, I'd say he's abroad somewhere. An international man is my type. Hey if you want to share please PM me your crushes Capergirl. |

Just a couple of days ago I was chatting to a friend about how difficult it is to find that special person. She's looking, not me. She complained that the men she meets are emotionally unresponsive and try hard not to communicate what they think or feel. After a few seconds' pause, she asked me if I'd marry her, jokingly of course. And, of course there is the problem that she's on the other side of the planet. Ho Hum

This reminds me very much of a scene in Tootsie, where a woman confides to Dustin in drag how she would like to be chatted up. He tries this in his male guise, result, she slaps him for doing exactly what she said she wanted.
What Im really trying to say is I have many male friends who are educated, sensitive, well travelled, and fun, but not too well endowed with dosh, and lets face it, great looks. Almost as described by several posters on this board. But do they ever get the girl that their personalities merit?
No, that goes to to an airhead adonis, or a jerk with a porsche.
What are they doing wrong? |

Dear nomadder,
"If the guy for me is Canadian, I'd say he's abroad somewhere."
Now you've got me really confused. How can a guy be a broad?
Regards,
John |
