The 1st is a Thursday and the 2nd a Friday.

What days do you get off work? Doesn't seem consistent based on what some tell me.

Looks like I get only the 2nd off.

Ah Ambition...best expressed by the gentle sway of the hammock.

FWIW, the SEP has only Friday, Nov. 2 as a holiday, and the UNAM and UAM have both Thursday & Friday off.

We can veer this thread into "What's in your ofrenda?" if anyone's interested.

Thats interesting, I didnt have it off last year.

I have Friday off but have to work Saturday, as usual, so it isn't a long weekend.

The way it works, AFAIK, is that on the one hand there are some obligatory statutory holidays that are always days-off, but then there are also a few extra holiday days that can be used in 2 ways: (1)Distributed among the "cultural" holidays like Muertos, Da de Guadalupe or Reyes in a discretionary manner. Which of those cultural holidays are designated official holidays in any given year seems to depend on whether they fall on Monday and Friday (so as to produce a puente) or nearer the middle of the week. (2) Used to make puentes when an official holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday.

But don't you get Revolution Day (Mon, Nov. 19) off? That one is an official holiday.

Originally, UDLA in Puebla only had Thursday and Friday off but for some strange reason classes for the WHOLE WEEK have been canceled. It's a mystery no one seems to be able to decipher....but I'm not complaining!!
