I sometimes invite the culprit to a 1 on 1 interview. I explain that this is his chance to convince me that the work is his own. I ask him to explain what he means by 'Notwithstanding the aforementioned...' or '...for the benefit of brevity...' or '...in the strictest Popperian sense of the word...'.
The interview doesn't usually last very long. |

You also could do what I have just done to my Australian class (full of international students): Google random phrases. Highlight the offending material and mark them only on the remainder with comments like "not enough original content"
This is a QSA policy as I am lead to believe by my head of department. |
