I may have an opportunity to work in Dajia, but I can find very little information on the place. Can anyone throw some light on the town? Thanks.

What I know of it is it is a township in central Taiwan. You might be waiting a long time to get anyone from this site's limited readership to give impressions of living there.

A piece of advice: Don't commit to working anywhere until you get here. Line up offers and interviews, but don't agree to move to places you've never seen until you've experienced Taiwan. Otherwise, you'll end up isolated.

It's about 1.5 hours on the bus from Taichung, going towards Shalu and Ching Shuey. I lived and worked in Ching Shuey, the next town, some 10km away.

Dajia is not a bad place, but not many westerners there. Rents are dirt cheap there, and there are plenty of restaurants. Some of the teachers commute from Taichung using motorbikes, but that can be dangerous.

There are a few language schools there. Not a bad place. I think Taichung is overrated. Dajia is a nice place.

If you ride a scooter, please wear a mask. Pollution levels are horrible in Central Taiwan.
