Is there any way to get into Japan on a one way ticket. I dont intend returning to my native country (Ireland) so I was thinking if its possible to get an on-going to some other country. I enquired (at trailfinders) about a one way ticket to Seoul (from Osaka) but it cost nearly 400.
Anyone have any ideas?

Are you coming here to work or be a tourist? Tourists need a round-trip ticket (or some onward bound desstination). |

Don't buy plane tickets in Japan if you don't have to (they're really expensive here). You can always leave Japan by boat, there are a number of options to Korea and also Shanghai. |

Sorry I wasnt clear enough in my post. I'll try to clarify my situation.
I want to go to Japan in February to look for a job teaching english. I'm Irish so I cant get a working holiday visa. Since I'll be entering Japan on a tourist visa I need to show them proof that I have an on-going ticket out of the country.
Since I dont plan on returning to Ireland, I dont want to spend the extra 3 or 400 euro on a ticket I'll never use. The only way I've found so far is to buy (here in Ireland) an extra one way ticket to Seoul for about 400 and then cancel it and get a refund with a cancelation fee of 25% of the original ticket price. The price seems a bit ridiculous considering I can fly from Dublin to Osaka one way for only an extra hundred euro.
I was wondering if there were any other ways of entering Japan for only a little more than the price of a one way ticket.

i believe its possible..
I'm irish also, I came here in november with a two way ticket using the seoul option..i won't be using the return portion...however no one gave a damn if i had a one way or two way ticket...didnt even ask...anyway all you'd have to say is that your going to travel down to kyushu (the south island) and get the boat to busan. korea...i'm 99% certain this would work...it might even be possible to ring the boat company and book a ticket....alternatively buy a round trip ticket and cash in the return portion after you get here...this is quite easy..lots of people do it anyway cause they end up satying longer than a year...good luck either way..s. |
