Ho often does the school / employer choose the text vs the teacher? |

I think it would be school/employer. Teachers tend to be a transitory lot and so the school couldn't keep getting a new textbook on the whim of an employee, especially if they were bought by the school for use with all students. |

When I taught in Japan, the teachers chose the texts for their own classes. We were given guidelines as to what had been used before successfully & unsuccessfully and how practical and expensive it would be to order & ship the books.
Everywhere else, the school has chosen the books--sometimes they get teachers' input, sometimes they don't.

Sometimes there isn't one, and you are expected to write a curriculum, the lesson plans, create the materials on your computer or by hand, and teach a full course load. |
