My girlfriend and I are currently working in Korea and are thinking of coming to Taiwan. Ive been looking at jobs and, rather obviously, I've come across HESS. Now the majority of what i've read about them is negative and i dont plan to work there myself but my girlfriend is fluent in French and I noticed on their website that they are also looking for French Teachers.
Does anyone have, or know of someone who has experience of teaching French at HESS. Do the negatives from the English teaching side ring true about the French teaching as well or are there different schools, pay structures, schedules etc
i Know questions about HESS are common, but i havent been able to find anything a specific as this - and i have used the search function
any info would be great. |

I would imagine that Hess' French classes are for adults (including a few high school students, perhaps).
The classes would most certainly be small--probably 5 to 8 students, on average. And there would be some variation in abilities and desires of those students. The pay would probably be the average 550 to 600 NT per hour.
It's a fairly small group of Taiwanese folks that would be interested (and dedicated) enough to get past simple greetings in French. Private tutoring would probably be the best bet. Maybe even some companies would be willing to have a in-house, daytime class for a couple of hours a week.
Best wishes,

Hello!
I have the same question as the original poster. So I'm wondering if 2 years later, anyone else has additional information about teaching French at Hess?
Thanks! |
