I wonder if anybody has any information regarding China Connection Education Services. They are a recruitment agency based in Hong Kong. Has anybody worked for them? How was your placement? Also I am interested in knowing more about life in Zhuhai. Thanks. |

I got my first job in China through them. It was in Gansu. Generally they are okay, friendly and helpful and if you have problems in your placement they will help you.
BUT
I did have a rather big problem there which I don't know who to lay the blame on- them or the school. I started at a strange time, beg. December, so I had the 2 holidays over the year rather than the 1. On Christmas, the Dean said he arranged for me to go with him to some hillbilly town at the end of Jan (during the hols) to do an 8 day English school . This was NOT in my contract and NOT discussed with me at ALL by CCEC. When I discussed this with the Dean, he said if I didn't do it my contract would be cancelled! Rot....
So be VERY careful and make sure you know ALL the details. If you're dealing with Martin, he's nice and helpful though. |

Thanks Songbird. Was CECC of any help in trying to resolve the situation?

Did you get paid extra for this work?
I don't do well when threatened... I would have laughed in their faces and at the last possible moment - as in the day of the "trip" told them I ain't going... Unless you are paying me extra and upfront. |

Jeff, yes, it was one of those jobs that would only pay for half the Spring Fest holiday, so I said I wouldn't do it if they didn't pay for my WHOLE holiday (not just the 8 days I missed out on), so that worked for me . |
