first, let me state that i haven't taught in a language "school" in a few years but i must say that i don't quite get phils sarcasm. i mean, 11 juta or more with experience-- isn't that a pretty good language "school" salary?...how many other language places would offer 11 juta to someone with no experience?
please keep in mind that i know i am making these comments and yet know nothing about the actual school except for what was written on this forum

oh, so including an honest statement ( that i have been out of the language school loop for some time) to go along with an assumption about salary ranges classifies as a "gem"......... i get it.......???????

personally I think a school that expects a 40 hour working week from profesional teachers should dig a little deeper than that. 11 mil was the starting salary at one of the other major players in jkt 5 years ago and they were only expecting 22 contact hours plus prep time One of the advantages of gettting better at this job is being able to put lesson plans together quickly and effectively thereby giving you more time to pick up private classes etc. I cant see that happening with these guys.
Of course,if 11 mil is how much you think you're worth, go for it.

fair enough.... i just thought that 11 jt was a good base salary compared to what other language schools offer(ed)......

ps-- please keep in mind my "gem" clause in regards to my opinions of this topic

G'day to everyone...

My wife and I were watching RCTI last evening and up popped a "Wall Street" commercial which was offering "us" 3 months free study if we signed up.. My wife cried out "HONEY" which means.... as I'm sure my fellow married bules would know, I should call and sign her up asap....

Anyways the DOS or Franchaise Manager, Andrew, I think, told "us" what we would get from studying there and to be honest it sounded interesting (computers, coffee/tv area and tutors = English teachers available should you need to talk to them, plus we could "hang out" there whenever we wanted)... We were almost hooked..... they then had a student talking in English about how flexible and great Wall Street was... I was impressed!!! but then it happened.... the next student started speaking Indonesian... not a bit of English in what he said..

The commercial (which I'm sure cost a few dollars) went down hilll from there and left me thinking that Wall Street was just an "up beat" version of some other language schools on this forum..

Paul
