Hi guys, this is my first post... so go easy on me please... Smile

I am thinking about taking up an offer from a school in Foshan, Guangdong, and not sure what to expect from a small town in China.
Plus, I am a dark skinned male with a valid English speaking country passport, and so far, these guys dont seem to have any problem with that... they still continued to be interested in me after i sent them my photographs. Smile

So everything with the school seems actually pretty good for now, and i've managed to contact some teachers from there on Facebook that will hopefully let me know how it is, but I was wondering more about what kind of life should I be expecting in Foshan? If anyone on this site has been there, please share your stories. I'm 25, so I'm hoping there would also be a good dating scene there, even for dark skinned foreigners...

But i'm more curious about the cost of living there. the apartment is provided, so I'll mostly be spendin my pay on food, travel, dating and such...

any words of advice u have to share is appreciated...

Remember as an FT - on a normal FT wage - you'll be hard pressed to be able to afford keeping up with the lifestyle of EX-pats who're employed in other professions!!!

Foshan is cheaper than Guangzhou so you can live comfortably there if you don't go out too much. Foshan is a big place, do you know what area of the city your school and accommodation are in?

Are you in China now?

A good example of why much of the FT info on living in a specific area is best sourced via other FT's rather than the ex-pat community in general!!!!
