I've been offered a position with these guys, the offer is a base salary would be 807 Omani Rials (OMR) plus 55 OMR monthly stipend for travel. Also included in the package is housing, insurance and return airfare from point of origin.
Is this a good package as i have no idea about Oman at all!!

That depends on your credentials...
If you do a search, you can find discussion of them. Also, if you know which branch, you can do a search by city.

My comments are stretching this thread a bit, but I'm beginning to wonder what goes with some of these agencies.
Cecne is, specifically, a case on point: twice reps from Cecne have offered me placement at Colleges that were already fully staffed.
A teacher whom I met on this forum accepted a position with Cecne and is now at the College without a class to teach. The individual tells me that most of the day is spent sitting in the canteen.
I know the Director of English at this College and emailed him to inquire as to the status of jobs there, mainly because another agency contacted me about three vacancies coming up in January.
The Director wrote me back with the comment that agencies are sending him too many people and the department is experiencing "a surplus of teachers."
I then contacted the second agency and was told, "Thanks for informing us. We sometimes lose contact with the Colleges and aren't certain of their needs."
Absolute truth.
You have asked if the wage is acceptable and I haven't answered your question - sorry 'bout that. But I think of more importance is the fact that agencies are signing on people under contracts with 3 month probationary clauses, and where the "surplus" could easily be dropped without cause. I don't want to be in that sort of predicament; do you?
It's my thought that you might ask for a contact at the College, and to actually verify that an opening exists. Talk turkey before talking cash. |

I work for CECNE and they are not the best nor the worst. You will survive with this amount of money and you may save up to 600 depending on your family status and way of life. They do whatever is written in your contract but dont expect anything more than that. Plain and simple. |

CECN/EDUCONSULT-OMAN
GSM: (Mod edit... do not give out full names and personal numbers)
I began with them a few weeks ago, and I have no complaints so far. About 15 colleagues work for them, and I haven't heard any major complaints so far. |

My own experience of Cecn was five years ago when I had a telephone interview with some guy who was in Canada.
I declined the position he offered and that was only after about fifteen minutes into the "interview".
