I have been getting contacted by this fellow, who has several names it seems, getting some very interesting job offers. Guy seems fishy to me. Anybody else out there got any stories about this guy? I think he is one to avoid big time, but in all fairness I thought I'd ask before making up my mind.

Thanks, though I did not expect such a quick response. I have seen a lot of warning about the guy on another board, however I liked to try and keep an open mind at least.
Another name this fellow will go by is Mr Xu Hui.
While you say many things have been said about this guy, sorry, that isn't enough. With the dating system here those old posts are pushed back so far that you have to really search. To be honest the search function here does not work so well either. At least not for me.
This fellow deserves a fresh post for others to see, as he is recruiting quite heavily now.
Anyone else have any stories about dealing with this fellow.
Such nefarious characters should be revisited from time to time if they are still active, so newbies and old timers a like can be kept abreast of who is good, and who is bad.

Update, this fellow is also now posting heavily, and I do mean heavily, on esl teachers board. A site for the most part to be avoided I think. seems like 90 percent or more of the posts are all recruiters. |

Whoa! This guy is even more of a creep then I thought. I thought the job he was offering sounded to good, which is why I checked him out on another site. I'm glad I asked about him here as well. Now newbies are up to date about this guy. What a scammer.
Just goes to show you, if a school is not willing to answer reasonable questions, then they likely are not a school or just not worth the trouble. |

I had the same feelings about Frank Zhang, too, having read so much negative press about him on this board.
Last year he contacted me about several jobs. I was also quite concerned. Nonetheless, I went to each of the interviews that he had set up. Indeed, he had truly set up the interviews. One job was not a fit -- nothing to do with him. Another job was beyond my geographical area. The third -- however -- which was teaching in the Law School of a famous university -- was quite a nice deal. The hours were typically uni hours -- about 14 - 16 a week -- but the pay was way above standard and the uni was offering a full twelve-months salary and an airfare reimbursement above the average -- these were not Zhang's words, all of this came from the uni directly and from the contract I was offered. The apartment was completely new, not refurbished, just completely new, etc., etc. And I made a really dumb mistake by not taking the job and taking one more in my geographical area of first choice.
All-in-all, I did not have a negative experience with him but I did let him know up front about all the bad press.
Bottom line? I will use his services again.

Hmm, well to be truthful I have not had that experience. This fellow takes forever to get back to me, had little or no information about the schools, and makes some big promises that I am doubtful he can keep. You may have had a good experience, but hey, don't all recruiters do a good job from time to time? Even a broken clock is right twice a day after all. |

Socrates, you said this Zhang was posting heavily on the esl teachers board. Can you give me any more information, either links to his posts or names and emails that he is using? I'd like to pass that information along to the adminstrators of that board, since they make great efforts to shut him down but have difficulty with all the aliases and multiple emails.
He may also be using: Victor Wang, with email address [email protected]
Anything you can add would be useful.
Thanks,
. |
