Hi. I used to teach in a Korean hagwon. The director got rid of me after 6 months(he had done the same to the teachers before me). What I miss about that job is that financially it was much easier to save money than where I now teach(a suburb of Tokyo). The school paid for my flight ..I didn't buy the ticket.
Surprisingly, I actually had a shorter working day, and the job was a lot less complex.
In Japan, you pay for absolutely everything.
I have had some fun here, and enjoyed classes. I am adapting to work. But I often think I ought to reconsider Korea
NO I DO NOT WANT TO GO BACK TO THAT HAGWON.
But what is the work load like in public schools? Are they basically better than hagwons? I know I can save some money in Korea.
Importantly, an Australian guy I knew when i was in Korea says that in public schools, you do usually get reasonably long vacations, several weeks in summer and winter.. This allows for travel.
Is this true? If any of you have worked inm korean public schools, please tell me.
MOD EDIT: This is not the Korean Board. Please post comments regarding living and teaching in Korea on the Korean Job Forums. |
