I reckon that lots of you go out in Taksim/Beoglu, sometimes get drunk and then walk over Istiklal on a saturday night to get to Taksim square.
Please be carefull when you do that. A friend of mine works at a language school and one of her colleagues got assaulted and seriously harrassed yesterday night on Istiklal. Don't know the exact circumstances but she said he was a quiet, reasonable guy who seemed to have his senses together.
The poor lad is now in hospital, seriously injured.

| Any foreign person seen noticeably intoxicated late at night on Istiklal or around that area is asking for trouble! Some thieves and muggers are on the look out for them. |

| Istiklal Cadessi may look upmarket but just a few meters off it the conditions are Dickensian ! Some unsavoury characters around there too ! |
