What are the differences between BEd faculty and English faculty teachers' job descriptions? From my understanding, English faculty teach ESL/EFL/Englsh at the foundation unit or prep.
Do BEd faculty actually teach education courses? Such as classroom management, teaching theories and so forth. Or they teach English courses at the BEd faculty.
What is a reasonable salary for BEd faculty? Let's say withan MA and 8 years of experience?
Anyone there with first-hand info or already at HCT? |

I can't speak for HCT, but at the university that I was at in the UAE, BEd faculty all had Phds and taught education courses only (classroom management, behavioral psych, theory...), while the English faculty strictly taught EFL and only needed an MA. The average salary for the BEd faculty was between 15,000-20,000. But this was before the 25% pay raise. |

At HCT, B.Ed faculty have to have a Masters degree and have some experience teaching young learners, preferably a primary teaching qualification and preferably experience with EFL young learners. You will teach content ie methodology, child development, language acquisition, educational management, teaching practice, etc. Some B.Ed faculty also teach some English mainly IELTS preparation.
The salary is the usual HCT scale ranging from 12,000 to about 18,000 plus benefits depending on quals and experience. |

In HCT this is the case
Yes, all have Masters. Most have never worked in a primary school and most do NOT have a B.Ed qualification. There are some who don't even have a Bachelors qualification but have somehow used their EFL experience as a means to enter a Distance Masters program!!! This is the advance track in HCT for management positions and unfortunately for the B. Ed. program is some instances. |
