| Who is OP? ........ why does Auzzie guy use these names? |
OP means original poster and 'Auzzie guy' is a pyschic .... or psychotic; one of the two! |

Personally, if you know what you're doing in the classroom (i.e., can actual teach), then this won't be an issue for you.
OP, if you are worried about this, also worry about the possibility of students videoing you with their mobile phones and downloading it to Youtube. A teacher in the UAE got fired for this- he got videoed dancing around in class. |

Who is OP? and where are the names of Clark Morgan and EF Engllish used at this site? A search of posts doesn`t show the names of these companies. This isnt to say that they are not involved, but why does Auzzie guy use these names?
Fair to say that most negative posts to this string indicate that the authors dont have much of a career to protect. Happy ESL in China to you! A 'your welcome' to the over 200 people who have read this post and not answered to keep from being unfairly harrassed |
Normally I'm not a grammar/spelling nazi - but sometimes posters who rant on about threats to the career of being an EFL teacher deserve a reminder that when trying to defend their posts the use of "good English" could be viewed as a serious plus to very core of their argument
Is this a wind-up thread?????? |

And before the usual suspects pipe up with the 'but it's only an internet forum', surely correct spelling and grammar would be the default English of an English teacher. |

You know, these comments have gotten so old and ridiculous. Yes, proper grammar, spelling, and sentence structure should be as basic as breathing has become to most of us. However, nobody really gives a flying leap.
"to the very core" and not "to very core"
"Nazi" and not "nazi"
"...their argument." and not "...their argument"
Of course, there are more errors if you look closely.
Let's keep the forum to the issues at hand rather than being so childish. |

Thank u lost - but never send me those tips via a message on my mobile - otherwise I could take them as an insult - and report you the authorities!!!!
And I agree - we aint in the classroom - and nobody needs give a flying f@#%. But in this thread the standard of the English seems to reflect the standard of the OP (rather childish). And since I can't really fathom the logic behind the OP, and don't want to resort to personal attack - all I have left is the English!!!!! |

| Teaching English in China is NOT a career. Anyone who goes to Beijing to teach English hoping to improve their career prospects is going to be disappointed. |

umm, i think it probably is for 99.9% of us regarding it being a career; a career being your lifework |

| And, as in most western countries, people change careers multiple times. |

I think most people believe the concept of career to be something linked to a professional development that enables one to climb some sort of professional rank ladder. I do believe - that normal China FT career prospects - of swapping one toothless 4000/month FT post for yet another and another (ad infinitum) - mainly for the chance of seeing yet another part of China - hardly represents a conventional career if any career at all

career:
an occupation or profession, esp. one requiring special training, followed as one's lifework: He sought a career as a lawyer.
the clue is in the term 'lifework', also included in my first post |

Lost a career - at the best of times - can be a bit of an abstract concept
But if you wish to believe you've got a bit of a China FT career on the go - well good on ya mate |

| I'm quite comfortable in my future and its security. I'm not a 20 year old running away from something back home. |
