I was wondering what it's like for you folks that have girlfriends in Vietnam. I know Vietnam has strict rules about non-married couples spending the night together at hotel rooms and apartments. Do guys here (and women with boyfriends) have trouble bringing your mate to spend the night at your place? I'm a Viet-kieu, but still, I might have a hard time convincing someone to have someone stay with me. Do most apartments have landlords surveying the entrance like the North Korean border?

If you rent a house, you will rarely have issues. Prolonged stays may incur a few Qs from the landlord through the neighbourhood watch.

Apartments can be a different story though, one really has to make sure that they can have friends over prior to signing up. Normally is no problem in business hours, but taking back 'guests' after hours can be problematic in some apartment blocks and most 'above board' guest houses and hotels.
