The problem is solved folks but going into the regional settings in the control panel, go to the last tab of the regional settings and change the unicode settings to Chinese PRC - assuming you have installed Chinese as an available language and the issue is solved ....

Rather simpler than installing 9 programs to try to make it work ........

Aussi Guy all computers in CHina have Chinese writing . You just hit the bottom two tabs on the left and you will switch into Chinese. You type the Pinyin and choose the character you want.
Bryan! Bryan! Bryan! I don't have a Chinese computer. I use my own Toshiba Satellite. It has Windows XP ENGLISH version.

Lost, my version of XP does not have Chinese as an available language, although I know it can be downloaded from Microsoft's site. And I do actually use the THREE Chinese programs that I installed.

I use the same programs - but only have Powerword 2005 ...

If you have an English Windows XP CD you can install the language ... if you want the CD let me know and I can make it available for you ...

Cheers guys all this computer talk is giving me 15 minutes worth of great material for my next non-paid - suckered in - entertain a gang of 6yo's - white monkey gig.
A lecture on Chinese script programs (parents will appreciate their toddlers being introduced to such an advanced topic at such an early age) - a game of find the mouse (for the adults - the lecture was too highbrow for them) - and for bringing everyone together a singsong - old MacDonald had a laptop.
wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!

always do what you are afraid. don't let your life be defined by "can'ts".

you can have great fun with this. tell them what most westerners think of olympics. how they are hoorid, nationalistic dog and pony shows of professional amateurs. of how rising nations use the event to cover over other needs. and list all the places that had olympics only to have troubles shortly thereafter.

you'd rock the house and no one would mind/understand.
