Okay, I cant live without my music. So, Ill be importing a pretty big library when I get to Japan. What I want to do is just bring a binder of MP3 CDs and leave my originals at home where they will be safe. But I am afraid that they might give me a hard time at customs because I will naturally have no way of proving that I do in fact own the music in its original form (okay, most of them anyway).

I understand Japanese laws are strict about this sort of thing, which is fine so long as I am not falsely convicted.

Should I worry about this? Will they believe me?

I think you have nothing to worry about.

I came through customs with over 200 gigs of MP3s, movies, etc. No problems whatsoever.

Yeah, you should get away with the music no problem.

What you shouldn't get away with is your blatant misuse of apostrophes. Hang him by the neck until he is dead....

Just to assure you further, I went through customs with about 100 cds, some 'proper' but mostly burnt ones. No problems at all. Same with friends and co-workers.

Here's the book you want which has just been published:

Eats, Shoots and Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation
Lynne Truss
Pub: Profile

She is particularly merciless with those who misuse apstrophes.

April,

Thanks for the assurance. I guess I was worried over nothing.

Shmooj,

Well, that looks like an excellent book, and I am going to keep an eye out for its paperback debut. I would have bought it right off, except that Amazon doesnt list it on their U.S. site and BN.com lists it but doesnt have it in stock. Now, Amazon.co.uk carries it but they want in excess of 16 Pounds Sterling for the book and delivery (to the U.S.) Yikes!
