There are raciest or/and discriminatory people in any country, nation, state, province, city, town, village, whatever. This is news?

The whaling industry misses the point - it isn't sustainable because there is no market for the meat in Japan. Without government backing the hunts would die a natural, commercial death. There are many more delicious fish to be had in the sea (not to mention safer, last time I checked the mercury levels in whale meat is pretty high). I love Japanese culture but parts of it knowingly defy common sense to defend antiquated traditions.
