I applied for a job in Linguaphone Shanghai a few weeks ago and was offered the job, the offer sounded reasonable and realistic and I did get a very good vibe about the job. Unfortunately I turned it down because they told me due to privacy reasons they were unable to send me a copy of the contract and I would have felt very vulnerable accepting a job without first seeing the contract.
However I am struggling to find an offer as good and reasonable as that one and was wondering if anyone could provide me with any experience they have specifically had with Linguaphone, either the Shanghai branch or another branch.
Thanks! |

If I'm thinking of the correct place, Linguaphone are a new outfit and have only one location in Shanghai. The story about 'privacy reasons' is false. They didn't send you the contract because they don't want you to see it outside their presence where they could push you to sign it.
They haven't been in business very long, and I've already heard bad things about them from some students who regret spending their money.
My guess is that you were offered bait and would actually have received less (maybe much less) than they suggested at first. You haven't lost anything. Keep looking.
Good luck.

I'd never take an offer from a school without seeing their contract first. |

I conduct all interviews for potential Foreign Teachers and can assure that we do provide sample contracts for candidates to look over prior to signing. |

This sounds suspicious. Who is the owner? If it is a guy called Steve Chow or a lady called Miss Qiu then run a mile. I could tell you a lot more but I had better not post it publicly. If you think these people are involved then PM me and I can fill you in on the details. |
