El,
That was one of the funniest, most accurate--and most informative--posts I've ever read on this forum...and I'm married to a Russian woman! Laughing
I lived in Ukraine for two years, and have been in Russia for nearly three, and the type of women taht you write about are everywhere (and extremely wily, willful and cunning).
I've been lucky enough to find a wonderful partner, but I've seen many a man go down the path El so percfectly explains.
Kudos for the post!

Thing is, if you're actually living and working in Ukraine - and that's what this forum is about and not international dating - you can take your time and meet somebody who is genuine. If she's not genuine, move on. It's really simple. If you get taken in by a girl here who's just after cash, you'll work it out fast enough. If she's happy to get the odd hand out from a teacher, then she's not really scamming anyway because there are plenty of richer expats to choose from.
Girls here expect to be treated by their boyfriends - evenings out, the odd gift, plenty of flowers etc... It's just the way it is. The man pays!

If she's a decent girl, she won't ask for much, but she'll still be expecting the odd present and holiday.

Well, don't blame Russian, Ukrainian, etc women. Blame US women:))) When US women do not listen to you, do not iron your clothes, do not cook your lunches, etc you are trying to find somebody who will do it.

You sometimes get disappointed and sometimes have good chances to change your life to something better than smth you have had before.

When there is a guy at the age 35-45 who does not know what he is doing in his life and what he is going to do the Slavic women is not the source of his problems. They are consequences...

Yes, Russia had too many wars during the XXth century and women had different value, they were underestimated in the marriage market. Men were too overpriced. If you are using this in the wrong way and get into trouble, I am sorry, it's your problem. Clever US guys use this in order to improve their lives and are successful in this.

Russian women are not guilty when US wife is standing in line at 8 am on Saturday to get egg Benedict at the restaurant instead of taking care after her family at home:)))

Nicer how? And is it easier to get a visa in Ukraine or Russia?

Definitely Ukraine. 3 months entry without visa, business visa without invitation. That's for EU, US, Canadian citizens. No registration either.

"Offical" work visa may be different but who gets one anyway.

Me.
A work visa is cheaper than a business visa and a good legit school will get you one.
