I didn't think it was possible to upload money to paypal...until I checked my account. Thanks for pointing that out. The Add Funds option seems to let you move money as Samantha says.
Pretty cool...this should be a sticky as many have the same problem. |

| Good idea Guy. You have to PM one of the moderators about it. I think it should be a sticky in the general or newbie forum as well (or in all like the warnings) as I imagine this is an issue all over the world. |

| Perhaps wait until Sarliz gets it done from start to finish, as we all know how things change constantly. |

| I'm still waiting to authenticate my US account and retrieve my not-sent funds from Guadalajara. I (fingers crossed) should have a complete update in 4 or 5 days (I'm forgetting my money woes and going camping at the beach for the weekend). Have a good weekend, everybody! |

Do you have a link where I can go to find out more about this? |

i tried the paypal thing three years ago and couldn't get it to work. i hope you have better luck. i want to hear about it, as i haven't lived in mexico for a few years but left a few thousand dollars in the bank there which i'm wanting to pull out now.
i can tell you that direct bank transfers are probably impossible, as they make fat money from charging $20-35 for international wires. i have bank accounts in the US and Mexico with HSBC. the SAME bank! and i can't transfer funds between them. in fact, when i called them about it, they said they are only the same bank in name, but they really have nothing to do with each other and don't know anything about HSBC banks in other countries.
again, good luck (especially if you have to do anything in person in a mexican bank) |

| Beware that it can take up to a week for money to get transfer to the account and when you transfer the money from your paypal to a different account it takes the same amount of time. So if you are in a hurry to send money it is best to plan ahead a little. |

bdbarn...I don't know of a website for economic deferment for student loans. I just call the organization that has my loans and do it over the phone. They send me a letter in the mail in a couple of days verifying the deferment.
You need to know who has your loans. Most banks will sell your loans to a state agency once they reach a certain amount. Mine is with the Kentucky higher education student loan corporation. I just call them and no prblem.
Do you know who has your loans? The banks or did the bank already sell them? If you can find this out I can give you more information. |

Maybe it was something with your personal set-up because we have had Paypal attached to a Mexican bank well before 2007. |

| There is an issue connecting Mexico and Canada by paypal. Canada-US, or US-Mexico, no problem. We've used paypal based on a Mexican account since 2002 with no trouble. A Canadian account I have seems not able to add a Mexican bank to it. |

Were the bank accounts you tried to hook together on one Paypal account in different names? Paypal is very particular about specific details, especially when it comes to foreign countries. Every single thing has to suit them or forget about it. (Hard for them to collect if something goes sideways) And you can never get a live person on the phone.
Here's a work-around. There was talk on this forum of teachers without FM3's not being able to open their own bank accounts, so had a trusted friend open one for them. This would work smoothly with Paypal too, if trusted friend agreed to have a Paypal account opened in his or her name and linked to this Mexican bank account. Funds can then be sent from the Mexican account of trusted friend, which contains the teachers own money, to the teacher's existing paypal account in home country. Just like a regular transaction of someone sending someone else money. I recall reading that there are upload limits out of Mexico (pesky money-laundering laws!) but something like a student loan payment should be well within that limit. |

If all else fails try these, http://www.westernunion.com/index_consumer.asp?country=US
http://www.westernunion.com.mx/info/homePage.asp?country=MX
You should be able to get 2 prepaid mastercard cards, leave one at home. It can work 2 ways both being helpful.
First, you can put the money on the card at any Western Union, if you leave on card with your family member or trusted friend, they can either make the payment for you, or you can make your payment with your card over the phone or internet.
The sencond way the card is helpful is that your family member or friend can put money on the card for you if you have an emergency and need money fast. Oh, and these cards work all ove the world where visa or mastercard are excepted, or where there are ATM machines.
Oh and you can even attach these cards to your paypal account. That's what I have done with one of my prepaid visa cards. |

| Ok, I researched the western union prepaid card and you can reload anywhere in the world, it is cheaper than wiring money. they do charge a small fee everytime you reload or use it, however if you transfer all of the money to your paypal account at one time then you only have one fee. |
