MO39's great idea to meet up at Papa Beto's Jazz Bistro, near the Angel of Independence.

Here's a You Tube shot of the place...

CALLE MANUEL VILLALONGIN 196 H
Col.CUAUHTEMOC

PM me if you need directions...nearest metro is probably Insurgentes, or San Cosme, or Metrobus Reforma.

There's a cover, so give me a chance to call them to see how much, who's playing, and at what time. Evening, of course.

$100 pesos is reasonable methinks esp. to head out to someplace a bit different!

I couldn't find it..can you post the link?

$250 would make it a non-starter for me, but $100 for good jazz is reasonable.

The gathering after this one can be made cheaper...by the way Dr. Phil, when is your hide gong to make an appearance at one of these affairs? Wink

don Felipe, if you don't mind! That is, don Felipe Modesto Buenrostro Hermoso!!!

How do you expect a poor struggling tycoon like me to afford $100, and another for the missus, plus drinks - and she consumes a lot of those!!
I'll see what I can do, if I'm not painting the dog that day.

Im borrowing Bills sax and blurting it on stage. He wont be needing it as hes too busy tooting his wifes horn!

Now that I'm recovering from an evil virus that has kept me out of circulation all week, I'm going to toddle over to Papabeto's (which is supposedly in my neighborhood) and check the place out, at least from the outside. Anyone who's interested in joining the gang there next Saturday evening can PM me (or Guy) for directions.

According to this week's Tiempo Libre, PapaBeto's doesn't open till 8:30, and according to the club's website, the first set is at 9:30, so let's meet there sometime between 8:30 and 9:00. The featured group is Joao Henrique Brazilian Night - the admission fee is 100 pesos. Hope to see some of you there!

8:30+ it is then. First one there, please grab a table to 10.

Edit: table for ten

Been a long week of looking at prepositions too much.

Gotta say....tonight was a great one!

Great choice MO!

Really enjoyed myself. MO had a great idea....apparently there is a jam session every Tuesday at 10pm (please correct anything that I say that is wrong MO) and it is only a 40 peso charge. I personally would love to go as well....so if anyone is interested....lets us know!

Again....good choice MO!

I had a fabulous time too tonight - great music, relazed atmosphere and wonderful company! Those of you who didn't make it to PapaBeto's tonight really missed out on a good time.

Yes, dixie, you got the details right - every Tuesday evening starting at 10 pm there's a jam session (or "palomazo") featuring whichever musicians show up, and the admission fee is only 40 pesos, drinks extra, of course.

And now I have to ask myself, what am I doing posting a message on Dave's at 1:45 am?
