What does everyone do with regards to sending your original University degree off to recruiters/schools? Surely it is a bit risky? I've seen that a notarized copy is acceptable, does this give you problems with immigration? Also, can you only get your degree notarized at a Korean Consulate? hmm...so many questions Rolling Eyes

Risky? It's nothing short of insane in a trade like EFL, riddled as it is with corrupt, dodgy outfits.

yes. I agree that this seems a very bad idea. Who is asking for an original anyway? I have a scanned copy that I email to potential employers and this seems to be enough.

A scanned copy, really? I thought the only way to get an acceptable copy was to send it to a Korean Consulate? But even that is not the best idea. A recruiter had asked for it, but when I questioned it they said a notarized copy will do. So I could just get a copy verified at my local government?

Sorry, I should have clarified that I haven't applied for anything in South Korea. So maybe that makes the difference?

Good luck! I would say definitely go with a notarized copy...don't send any original anything. Why would they need originals anyway? I would question that.

Of course, never send someone your original diploma. What are they going to do with it? Give your original diploma to another agency? Of course not, they are just going to make a company. Also don't know what country. Certainly a copy of the diploma sent by e-mail is sufficient here in China

Original certificates and academic transcripts are required here in Hong Kong.

Alright...so I asked the necessary Embassy and this is what they said:
"To get your degree documents notarised by the embassy you need to make a copy of your degree get that copy stamped by the commissioner of oath therafter sent the stamped copy to the Embassy to be notarised".
Is this the right procedure to follow?
