The reason there are so few voters in the poll is the limited option. There should have been an "other" category with a note requesting and explanation.
I lived in Hsin-chu and loved it. It has everything a person could need, including much better housing options. It is located right on the train route and only 40 minutes from the airport. The mountains are only a 10 minute scooter ride away, so it is easy to get away from the city. |

| I'm looking at Taichung to teach. It's going to be my first job in Taiwan, and I'm nervous about the traffic. It sounds like the buses are not very good unless you know Mandarin. Are they good enough that a foreign teacher can get around for a couple of months? Basically, until I've watched the chaotic traffic a little? |

the traffic seems insane at first, but its really not that bad. most of the time, anyway.
watching traffic wont teach you to ride in it. i suggest you rent or buy a used scooter, buy a good helmet, practice on the bike for a few hours (first in an empty parking lot or secluded spot), then try streets with light traffic. youll be zipping around in no time. |
