I'm new to the boards and I have a few questions for people who are teaching or have taught in Costa Rica...
Is the beginning of June a good time to find a job?
I do not have enough money for the CELTA at this time. Will I be okay with my degree in education (English) and about 2.5 years experience tutoring ESL students (children and adults) and 6 months experience teaching?
Is $1500 enough money to get started in San Jose? |

As you will find in this forum with a minimum of searching, experience is more important than a CELTA/TEFL teaching degree. If you've experience teaching (yes, tutoring counts) you'll be fine. In most schools your English degree will be pretty irrelevant.
If you go to San Jose with 1500 bucks in June, you'll be fine getting a job and set up within a month or two, maybe three if you're unlucky. |
